The Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel in Louisiana is going to be transformed into a brand new Live! casino resort and entertainment destination according to the master project designs laid out by Cordish Companies.
Cordish announced that Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana would be an investment of over $250 million, with an expected opening in 2025 and final permission pending from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
With over 47,000 square feet of gaming space, the resort will supersede the current riverboat casino. It would include over 30 live action table games in addition to over 1,000 slots and computerised table games.
A variety of food and entertainment options, a multi-use event centre, and a hotel with more than 400 rooms would also be part of the complex.
To see the project through to completion, Cordish promised to collaborate with Foundation Gaming & Entertainment, as well as with community members, government leaders, and state and local agencies.
This news follows earlier this month's announcement by Cordish that it had agreed to buy and renovate Diamond Jacks Hotel & Casino.
Cordish announced plans to build a new land-based casino to replace the current riverboat casino at the site, which has been closed since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in March 2020.
Joe Weinberg, managing partner at Cordish, stated, "Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a world-class resort destination that brings a first-class gaming, dining, entertainment, and hospitality experience to the region, creates significant new jobs, and generates millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community." The event will also bring about the creation of new jobs.
