In March 2023, the revenue was $487.4 million. Additionally, the total increased by 14.1% from $461.5m in February of this year in New Jersey.

Once again, out of all the markets operating in the Garden State, land-based gambling brought in the lion's share of the revenue. With a 4.9% year-on-year increase, land-based gaming brought in $239.8 million.

The percentage of land-based income generated by slot machines increased by 4.8% to $172.7m. The remaining $67.0m came from table games, which is a 4.9% increase from the previous year.

Once again, New Jersey broke the record for igaming income.
Moving on to internet gambling, the state of New Jersey set a new monthly record with $197.2 million in revenue, a 19.9% increase from 2023. The gap between igaming and overall land-based income in New Jersey has narrowed to only $42.6 million.

With a growth of 19.4 percent, online slots brought in $194.8 million in igaming revenue in March. Internet poker, on the other hand, saw a decline of 5.4% to $2.4m in revenue.

With $57.1 million in monthly revenue, Golden Nugget maintains its position as the leading igaming operator in New Jersey. With $48.9 million, Resorts Digital came in second, while the Borgata came in first with $43.8 million.

March sports betting problems 
The next area to examine is sports betting, where income dropped 3.6% to $89.7m. But compared to February's total of $67.6m, this was an increase of 32.7%.

In March, gamers wagered $1.33 billion on sporting events, a 36.3% increase from the previous year. While $43.8 million was gambled at brick-and-mortar sportsbooks, $12.6 million was wagered online.

Meadowlands continued its long-standing position as market leader alongside FanDuel, PointsBet, and SuperBook. March revenue at Meadowlands was $51.7 million.

Once again, DraftKings and Resorts World came in second place in this area, raking in $24.2 million. In third place, with $6.3 million, were Borgata and BetMGM.

Annual revenue for New Jersey at $1.55 billion
Total market revenue for the three months ending in March was $1.55 billion, when looking at the year-to-date figures. Compared to the same period in 2023, this is a 15.7 percent increase.

Slot machines bring in $474.4 million, down 0.4%, while table games bring in $181.8 million, up 1.4%, for a total of $656.1 million from land-based gambling.

Up 22.0% to $562.8m, igaming income is booming. This consists of $555.7m from slot machines, an increase of 22.5%, and $7.1m from poker, a decrease of 4.6%.

In spite of March's drop, sports betting brought in $328.0m, a 22.0% increase. During that time, players spent $4.13 billion, with $4.00 billion from online wagers and $129.3 million from retail sales.

Is a possible increase in internet gambling taxes on the horizon for New Jersey?
This news comes as operators in New Jersey are bracing for a possible increase in taxes related to internet gaming. A new plan to raise the tax on internet gambling and sports betting to 30% was officially introduced last week by Senator John McKeon.

There is a 15% tax on internet gambling and a 13% tax on sports betting on gross gaming revenue.

According to the bill language, the plan would be effective on the first day following the date of enactment if lawmakers accept it.
